Tenon Joints

Tenon Joints

We use mortise and tenon joints between the rail and the stile. These are far stronger than dowel joints and will minimise movement between these elements. Movement means cracking in the paint or stain finish and this will spoil the aesthetic look of the shutters. Again, just in case there is some movement we engineer the panels with an additional grooved overlap that ensures any movement is handled by this expansion joint.



Stiles


Stiles

The stiles are the side bars of the shutter panels. Rather than producing these as solid pieces we cut the wood into strips which are then bonded back together in opposing layers for greater strength. This has the effect of breaking the capillaries in the wood through which moisture travels. This and the strength of the bonding agent ensures that panels are unlikely to warp and will give you years of enjoyment.

All rails & joints are doweled and glued for strength & will not crack, warp or split to promote a long life span.

Magnetic Catches

Magnetic catches are counter-sunk within the frames and the back of the shutters to assist closure. They also remove the need for handles & knobs.

Handles & Knobs

Only if required handles & knobs can be fitted for a completely customised look.

Screw Caps

For a complete professional finish customised screw caps in the stain or colour of your shutters will be placed over fixing points to hide screw heads.

Drop-Pin Hinges

Drop-pin hinges are used on all shutters for easy removal from the frames when required for room redecoration or in case of emergency.
